Crucially, the 26-year-old is now said to be open to relocating to London, even if Barcelona remains his ideal end point.

There is a catch, and it’s not about football.

Alvarez’s extended family have been living with him in Madrid, and his preference is to move with them. That demand drags the deal into more complex territory: visas, schooling, housing, and the quieter, human details that can make or break a transfer away from the pitch.

Arsenal, though, are understood to be fully aware of those conditions and prepared to help facilitate the move, addressing the logistical side to ease Alvarez’s concerns about uprooting his life as well as his career.

The Gunners are also said to be ready to go a step further with a creative compromise: a so‑called “Barcelona clause” in any agreement. Such a provision could allow Alvarez a defined route to the Catalan club in the future, while giving Arsenal the striker they want in the here and now.
