Huddersfield Town's Ryan Ledson Faces Three-Match Suspension
Huddersfield Town captain Ryan Ledson has been hit with a three-match suspension after admitting a misconduct charge brought by the Football Association.
The 29-year-old midfielder was found to have used abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official in the tunnel area at half-time, and again after the final whistle, during Town’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on 10 October. Ledson was not part of the matchday squad that night, but the incident still drew the attention of the authorities.
He has accepted the charge and been fined £7,000 on top of the ban.
The punishment lands at an awkward time for Huddersfield. Ledson had only just returned to training after an elbow injury that has kept him out since 12 September, halting what had been a steady start to his League One campaign with six starts for the Terriers.
Instead of easing back into the side, the club captain will now sit out upcoming fixtures against Wigan Athletic, Bradford City and Luton Town.
For a team trying to build rhythm in the autumn grind of the season, losing their skipper to the stands rather than the treatment room poses a different kind of problem.
