Zeidane Inoussa Set to Join Portsmouth on Loan

Swansea winger Zeidane Inoussa is set to swap South Wales for the South Coast, with the 24-year-old poised to join Portsmouth on loan for the rest of the season.

It marks a sharp turn in a move that, a year ago, looked like a long-term pillar of Swansea’s rebuild. Signed last summer from BK Hacken for a significant fee, the former Sweden Under-21 international arrived with pedigree and expectation. Instead, his first campaign in the Championship never really caught fire.

One goal in 29 appearances tells part of the story. Injuries did the rest. Stops, starts, and a rhythm that never quite came together undercut his debut season, even as the length of his contract – running until 2030 – underlined how heavily Swansea had initially invested in his future.

Now the landscape at the club has shifted.

Swansea have moved aggressively in the wide areas, bringing in Moussa Yeo and Joseph Opoku and closing in on a deal for Manchester City youngster Jeremy Monga. With fresh legs and new profiles arriving on the flanks, the path to regular minutes for Inoussa has narrowed.

The pressure on squad places has forced decisions. Swansea are prepared to let Inoussa go and are also keen to move on Florian Bianchini, whose loan spell at Portsmouth last season fell flat. That particular stint never really took hold at Fratton Park, and both player and parent club appear ready to draw a line under it.

There is noise around Ronald as well, with speculation over the future of the fellow wide player adding another layer of uncertainty to Swansea’s attacking options. The wings, once an area in need of reinforcement, have quickly become a battleground.

For Portsmouth, the deal offers something different. Inoussa brings pace, direct running and Championship experience, even if his numbers so far have not matched the promise. For Swansea, it is a reset – a chance to clear space, trim a crowded department and see whether a change of scenery can unlock the player they thought they were buying.
