Anthony Martial Nears Move to Málaga CF

Anthony Martial is closing in on a surprise move to Málaga CF, with the former Manchester United forward reportedly ready to relaunch his career at a club fighting for survival in La Liga.

According to Foot Mercato, the 30-year-old, currently a free agent after the termination of his contract with CF Monterrey, is edging towards an agreement with the Andalusian side, who sit 18th in the table. It would mark a dramatic change of scenery and ambition: from drifting on the market to becoming the attacking reference point for a team battling to stay in Spain’s top flight.

Martial has been weighing up his options for several weeks, and not just in Spain. Two Ligue 1 clubs sounded him out, testing the idea of a return to France. He declined both approaches, unconvinced by the projects on offer and seemingly determined to avoid a comfort move back home.

The most spectacular offer, though, came from much further afield.

Al-Ittihad Tripoli, fresh from securing Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal, tried to pull off another headline signing by moving for Martial. The Libyan club did not hold back. Their proposal, as reported, was staggering: a net salary of 10 million euros over two years, topped up by a 5 million euro signing bonus. For a 30-year-old free agent, it was the kind of deal that normally ends the conversation.

Martial still said no.

The Frenchman is understood to have turned down the offer in favour of what he views as a genuine sporting project, a decision that points him firmly towards Málaga. Instead of cashing in on a final major contract outside Europe, he appears ready to gamble on the intensity and scrutiny of La Liga, and on a club whose immediate horizon is not trophies, but survival.

If the move is completed, Martial will walk into a dressing room under pressure and a stadium that demands instant impact. At 30, with big money on the table elsewhere and a career to piece back together, it is a bold choice.
