A key figure in Chinese women’s basketball has been forced to step away from the national team setup in the most frustrating way imaginable: a missing passport in the mail.
After years of representing China and building what she described as a “great relationship” with both the Chinese Basketball Association and the national team, the player revealed she will not be able to join up with the squad this time because her passport has been lost and still has not been recovered.

The setback clearly stings. She spoke of how much it has always meant to wear the national jersey, how valued and wanted the national team has made her feel, and how excited she had been to rejoin the group. That anticipation has now turned into a blunt dose of reality.
