Damian Jones Joins Real Madrid for EuroLeague Challenge

Damian Jones is heading to one of European basketball’s biggest stages.

The former NBA center has signed a one-year deal with Real Madrid, the Spanish powerhouse confirmed in a press release, giving the EuroLeague giants another proven interior presence for the coming season.

Jones, the 30th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, arrives with a résumé that carries real weight. He spent eight seasons in the league and collected two championship rings in his first two years with the Golden State Warriors, learning the trade in a locker room packed with stars and expectations. His most recent NBA stop came with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2023/24 campaign.

Over the past two years, Jones has taken a different route to keep his career moving. He logged most of that time in China with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, putting in the work far from the NBA spotlight, then reminded everyone of his winning pedigree by helping Vaqueros de Bayamon capture a title in Puerto Rico.
