Italy's Giacomo Raspadori Withdraws from Nations League Squad Ahead of France Clash
Giacomo Raspadori Pulls Out of Italy's Nations League Lineup
Giacomo Raspadori will not take part in Italy's upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against France and Turkiye. The Atalanta forward has officially left the squad due to injury, confirmed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) after medical checks.
Injury Forces Early Exit
After being substituted at halftime during Italy’s 4-1 victory over Turkiye because of an injury, Raspadori’s fitness was a growing concern. Medical assessments confirmed he cannot compete in the high-profile fixtures ahead, leading to his early departure from the national team camp.
Official Statement from FIGC
The FIGC announced: "Giacomo Raspadori was given full rest and underwent medical tests. After confirmation that he will be unavailable for the upcoming matches, he will return to his club." This means he will miss the trip to face France at Stade de France on October 2 and the home game against Turkiye in Bologna on October 5.
Adjusting Tactics at Coverciano
Despite losing one of their key attacking players, the Italian squad remains focused. Following their strong performance in Bursa, the team returned to Coverciano to prepare for the next challenge. Coach Roberto Mancini divided the squad during training, letting starters recover while fringe players and those not involved in the Turkey match worked intensively on tactical drills at Fiorentina’s Viola Park facilities.
Managing Forward Line Challenges
Italy’s recent efficiency in attack is under scrutiny. Although the four-goal win against Turkiye offered some relief, Raspadori’s absence leaves a gap in movement and technical skill up front. Mancini faces a decision whether to call up a replacement or depend on the existing squad depth.
