Harry Kane Breaks Bundesliga Record with 100 Goals
Harry Kane didn’t just rewrite a line in the Bundesliga record books. He ripped the page out and stamped his name across it.
In Bayern Munich’s 7-0 demolition of Union Berlin, the England captain became the fastest player ever to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, hitting the mark in just his 98th league appearance. A record that had stood for 49 years, set by Cologne striker Dieter Müller in 1977, fell with brutal inevitability.
Müller needed 129 matches. Kane has been scoring at better than a goal a game since landing in Germany in 2023. Before kick-off, he was averaging a league goal every 78.5 minutes. By full-time, the numbers looked even more absurd: 152 goals in 154 Bayern appearances in all competitions, 61 of those in 51 games last season alone.
Landmark Moment
The landmark moment arrived in the 39th minute. Bayern already had Union pinned back, the pressure suffocating, when the chance came from the spot. Kane stepped up, lashed the penalty home and moved into territory no Bundesliga striker had ever reached so quickly. Clinical, inevitable, almost cold in its execution.
He wasn’t done.
Early in the second half, Michael Olise – who was putting together a dazzling performance of his own – whipped in a cross. Kane drifted into space, read the flight, and nodded in his second of the afternoon. Goal 101. Bayern cruising. Top of the table before the rest of the weekend had even begun.
On any other day, Olise would have owned the headlines. His first Bayern hat-trick, all flair and incision, was the kind of individual display that usually defines a game. Jamal Musiala added a strike of his own, the sort of goal that normally settles tight contests, not one small piece of a rout.
Instead, both found themselves playing supporting roles in Kane’s latest milestone.
Afterwards, the striker allowed himself a moment to take it in.
“I’m very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven’t been around that long. I’ve loved every second of it,” he told Sky Germany, before turning the spotlight back on those around him. “With Michael, Lucho [Luis Díaz] and Jamal I naturally get chances and today was no exception.
“So I just want to thank the team, the club, the coach, and the staff – everyone who has helped me achieve this. Let’s keep going like this. Scoring more goals in games is obviously a big step. Of course, there have been many important goals among them. I can only say that I’m enjoying every minute of it. Just like today.”
It sounded less like a man satisfied, more like one warning the rest of the league that this is only the middle of the story.
