Inter Celebrates Dimarco as Serie A Player of the Year
Inter own the night at the Gran Gala del Calcio. The champions of Italy walked in as the benchmark of Serie A and walked out with the official seal: Club of the Year.
At the centre of it all stood Federico Dimarco.
The wing-back, a symbol of Inter’s aggressive, high-octane football, was voted Serie A Player of the Year by his fellow professionals – a recognition that carries more weight than any trophy polished for the cameras.

“It is always an honour to receive votes from colleagues,” he said. “We have a great group and had a fantastic season.” No need for embellishment. The table and the trophies already told that story.
Dimarco’s turning point: Paris heartbreak
Dimarco did not pretend his rise came out of nowhere. He traced it back to pain.
Asked about his breakthrough, he pointed directly to the lost Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. That defeat, that night, became a hinge in his career.
“It all started after the lost Champions League final against PSG, which pushed us to give our absolute maximum,” he explained.
For some, a final like that lingers as a scar. For Dimarco, it turned into fuel. The intensity in his game this season – the constant overlapping, the aggression in duels, the end product in the final third – carries the imprint of that disappointment.
Contract clouds over a golden moment
Yet even on a night built for celebration, there was a note of frustration.
Dimarco revealed that talks over a contract extension with Inter have not even begun. No meetings, no negotiations. Silence.
“Renewal? Unfortunately, we haven’t spoken about it,” he admitted. “I hoped it would happen after last season’s performance.”
Those words cut through the glamour of the gala. Here is the league’s Player of the Year, a homegrown pillar of the side, openly stating that the club have not moved to secure his future. The contrast between the awards in his hands and the uncertainty over his contract could hardly be sharper.
For now, though, Dimarco refuses to let it distract him.

“Now I want to remain focused on the match against Napoli,” he said. “We haven’t been able to win against them for too long.”
