Thomas Muller Extends Stay with Vancouver Whitecaps Through 2027 MLS Sprint Season
Thomas Muller Commits Long-Term to Vancouver Whitecaps
Thomas Muller, the celebrated German forward, has extended his contract with Vancouver Whitecaps, securing his place at the club until June 2027. The 37-year-old's previous deal was set to expire this December, but now he will continue to be a key player for the Canadian side throughout the upcoming MLS Sprint Season.
Extension Announcement and Impact
The Whitecaps officially revealed the new agreement, which keeps Muller at BC Place Stadium for nearly two more years. Since joining the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, Muller has quickly become a pivotal figure in Vancouver's attack, demonstrating his value on and off the field. This extension guarantees that the World Cup winner remains central to the team's offensive plans through next spring.
Muller Praises Club Culture and Playing Style
"I've really enjoyed my time here from the beginning. Vancouver has been very open and welcoming to me, and I've felt that same spirit throughout the club," Muller said in an interview on the club’s website.
"We have an offensive, possession-based style that is fun to play and fun to watch, and you can really feel the excitement around the team and the city right now. The fans are enjoying it, and I think everyone wants to be part of what we are building."
"For me, it's still so much fun to be out on the pitch every week, and I feel good physically. I'm very happy to continue this journey with the Caps, and I'm looking forward to what we can achieve together this year and next year in the Sprint Season."
Strong Performance and Silverware Chase
In his debut season, Muller made an immediate impact by guiding the Whitecaps to victory in the Canadian Championship and helping them reach their first MLS Cup final, where they were runners-up to Inter Miami. His stats across all competitions include 19 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances. Within league play, Muller leads the club with 16 goals and 11 assists, a level of performance that earned him a spot on this year’s MLS All-Star team.
Upcoming Challenge and Playoff Ambitions
With Muller’s future secure, Vancouver Whitecaps now focus on maintaining their strong form as they face Chicago Fire on October 6. Under coach Jesper Sorensen, the team sits atop the Western Conference with 50 points from 26 matches.
