With Enzo Fernandez edging towards a blockbuster move to Manchester City, Chelsea have moved decisively for his potential successor, pushing hard to prise Manu Koné away from Roma.

Roma, though, are not rolling out the red carpet. Gian Piero Gasperini considers Koné “non-transferable”, a central pillar of his plans. That stance has not stopped Chelsea testing their resolve.

Nico Schira reported that the Blues have tabled an offer worth €65m (around £56m) for Koné, placing a serious proposal in front of Roma’s ownership. As Schira framed it, the decision now rests with the player and the Friedkin family, who must weigh sporting ambition against financial logic.

Gianluca Di Marzio has since described the move as an “advanced” deal, though he suggested the figures involved may be lower than initially claimed, indicating a package in the region of £52m. Di Marzio also noted that Gittens is close to joining Roma on loan, hinting at a wider web of business between the two clubs.

The message is clear: Chelsea want Koné, and they want him now.

All of this unfolds against the backdrop of Enzo Fernandez’s proposed switch to Manchester City, a transfer that would send shockwaves across Europe.
