Coco Gauff Calls Novak Djokovic ‘Alien’ After Stunning China Open Win Over Daniil Medvedev

Novak Djokovic Advances to China Open Final Amid Controversy

Novak Djokovic continues to amaze after his recent victory at the China Open. The 39-year-old has secured a spot in the ATP 500 tournament final in Beijing, following a semifinal match against Daniil Medvedev that ended abruptly. Medvedev was defaulted after accidentally hitting a spectator with a ball, while Djokovic was leading 7-5, 5-3 and closing in on the win.

Djokovic now faces Alex de Minaur in the final, aiming for a seventh title at this event where he remains unbeaten in singles matches.

Coco Gauff Labels Djokovic ‘Alien’ After Watching His Match

After reaching the round of 16 in Beijing, Coco Gauff praised Djokovic's incredible form during an interview. She described his performance as otherworldly, saying:

I mean, it’s an alien honestly. I was watching the match. Even from Daniil, there were hardly any unforced errors in winning points. It was the same level throughout two sets lasting over two hours, which is insane. It was unfortunate how it ended, but I’m glad it finished in two sets or we’d be here much longer. Novak is an alien. I don’t know how he does it at this age. So good, I really don’t know.

Djokovic has won the China Open six times previously: 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, making him the player to beat in this tournament.

Mirra Andreeva Also Inspired by Djokovic’s Longevity

Another WTA star competing in Beijing, Mirra Andreeva, expressed admiration for Djokovic’s achievements and drive after reaching the quarterfinals. She said:

I think what he’s doing is unbelievable. He’s won everything possible and yet still finds motivation to keep playing, fighting, and beating top players. It’s inspiring for many to see a legend who enjoys the game so much and continues to compete fiercely. Maybe he just loves tennis and winning. For sure, he’s a huge inspiration for me personally.

Andreeva will face Ekaterina Alexandrova next, while Gauff’s upcoming opponent is Elise Mertens. Meanwhile, Djokovic’s path to the final also included victories over Alexander Zverev, Nuno Borges, and Yunchaokete Bu.
