Joe Gomez is poised to pull on a Liverpool shirt again tonight, with the defender cleared to return in the Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham at Anfield.
The England international has not kicked a competitive ball this season after suffering a muscle strain in pre-season, but Andoni Iraola confirmed on Monday that the 27-year-old is finally back in the frame.
“Joe is training with the team and is available for tomorrow. It's a matter of deciding how much he can play,” the Liverpool manager said, leaving the door open for anything from a cautious reintroduction to a full-blooded start under the lights.
Rotation night at Anfield
This will not be a night for the usual Premier League rhythm. Iraola made it clear that change is coming.

If he leans towards experience and wants to build rhythm in his newer arrivals, Bradley Barcola is well placed to feature again. The forward is in the middle of a demanding run, with tonight potentially marking his third start in a week, a clear sign of trust and a chance to accelerate his adaptation to Liverpool’s demands.
Up front, the options are thinner. With Hugo Ekitike still sidelined, Alexander Isak stands as the only senior centre-forward available. The burden is his, unless Iraola tweaks the system and asks Cody Gakpo to operate through the middle, a role the Dutchman knows well and has filled before.
