Jose Mourinho Praises Kylian Mbappe’s Bold Panenka Penalty as Real Madrid Crush Sevilla 4-1

Jose Mourinho Applauds Mbappe's Daring Penalty in Dominant Win Over Sevilla

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts after Kylian Mbappe dazzled with a cheeky Panenka penalty, leading to a convincing 4-1 victory against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe’s Impactful Performance Seals Victory

The French forward scored twice, including a calm chip from the penalty spot earned by himself early in the second half. His penalty was a highlight, coming after a clever backheel assist from Jude Bellingham that set him up for the first goal. Mourinho expressed pride in Mbappe’s confidence and flair on home turf.

Mourinho Celebrates Team’s Tactical and Individual Excellence

At his post-match press conference, Mourinho emphasized the overall high level of performance from his squad. He noted their complete control of the match from start to finish, praising both possession and the quality of goals.

  • Mourinho said: “We controlled it from the first to the last minute and scored quality goals.”
  • He added: “We had a high percentage of possession. Today it justified the dominance we had against a good team.”
  • He called the result: “A beautiful victory.”

Squad Rotation and Meritocracy Underlined

Mourinho addressed questions about his lineup decisions, explaining that while he made changes, they were logical and based on readiness. He remarked that meritocracy can’t be measured simply because many players deserve opportunities.

  • Mourinho stated: “I have changed some things while maintaining logic.”
  • He noted: “Many people deserve to play.”
  • He summarized: “We created a lot, got the ball to our wide players, and played a great game.”
