NBA China Games 2026: Macao Hosts Basketball Legends

Macao is about to feel like the center of the basketball world.

The NBA China Games 2026 are bringing the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks to town, but the league has made it clear this trip is about far more than two preseason games. The NBA announced an expanded, star-heavy edition of NBA House that turns The Venetian Macao into a five-day festival of the sport and the culture that now surrounds it.

Legends under one roof

The guest list reads like a Hall of Fame weekend.

Ray Allen, Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh, Jeremy Lin, Stephon Marbury, Shawn Marion, Cuttino Mobley, Mitch Richmond, Luis Scola, P.J. Tucker and Chinese standout Ding Yanyuhang are all scheduled to headline the event. Different eras, different roles, different stories — but all stitched into the modern history of the league’s global rise.

It’s a statement from the NBA: if the Rockets and Mavs are the main act, NBA House is the all-access backstage pass.

The event, long established as a marquee stop on the NBA’s global calendar, will run from October 7–11 inside The Venetian Macao Halls. Entry is free, but the league is treating it like a full-scale entertainment production, not just a fan zone with a few shooting games and autograph lines.

Where basketball meets everything else

NBA House in Macao is being built as a crossover arena, not just a shrine to the hardwood.

Basketball will sit at the center, but the league is leaning into everything that now travels with it: music, fashion, technology, and food. The programming stretches from live performances to interactive courts, from lifestyle apparel to digital experiences.

Fans will see artists from across Asia take the stage, including KiiiKiii, SB19, EVAN and MIRROR, with more names in the mix. The idea is simple: make the building feel like a live, breathing intersection of cultures, not just a queue to meet former All-Stars.

Around them, the NBA’s network of league partners will roll out their own activations. Brands such as Alibaba Cloud, Alipay+, Amap, Amazon Web Services, Ant Bank (Macao), Ctrip, Gatorade, JACK & JONES, Luzhou Laojiao, Macau Pass, Mengniu, NIKE, Qwen, Sands China Ltd., Taobao 88VIP, Tissot and Wilson will turn sponsorship from logos on a backdrop into hands-on experiences on the floor.

Built for the fans

The planning has a clear north star: make this feel like fan heaven.

Beyond the star cameos and brand zones, a full merchandise village will anchor the space, offering official NBA products, collectibles and lifestyle apparel. A customization lab will let fans put their own stamp on gear — the kind of detail that turns a souvenir into something personal.

Then there’s the food. A more than 1,500-square-meter food and beverage area, presented by Amap, will blend local Macao favorites with Texas flavors in a nod to the Rockets and Mavericks’ roots. It’s a small but telling touch: the NBA isn’t just exporting teams, it’s importing a slice of their identity.

On court, the league is pushing the tech frontier. “NBA Inside the Game powered by AWS” will give fans an interactive shooting experience on a smart digital LED court, blurring the line between playing and simulation. Photo opportunities with NBA trophies will offer the obligatory moment for social feeds, while viewing parties for the Rockets–Mavs matchups will turn the hall into a live, communal arena whenever the teams tip off.

Beyond the box score

Strip it all back and the message is unmistakable.

The NBA is using Macao to showcase what its global presence looks like in 2026: games that matter to local fans, stars from different generations, regional music talent, fashion drops, tech-driven courts, sponsor ecosystems and food that tells its own story.

The league has not left much to chance. Every corner of NBA House is designed to pull fans a little closer, to make the China Games feel like a week-long experience rather than a brief stop on the preseason schedule.

If this is the new standard for how the NBA travels, the real question is what they do to top Macao next.
