Como Director Backs Nico Paz as Argentina’s Next Number 10 After Messi’s Retirement
Como Chief Predicts Nico Paz Will Take Over Argentina's Number 10 Shirt
Carlalberto Ludi, Como's director of sport, has expressed strong confidence in Nico Paz as the next player to wear the iconic Number 10 jersey for the Argentina national team following Lionel Messi's retirement.
Messi’s Farewell to International Football
The legendary forward ended his international career after Argentina's 3-0 win against Benin, a match where Messi scored a penalty in the 71st minute to cap off his final appearance. The emotional moment saw fans and teammates moved deeply as Messi said goodbye to the Albiceleste in his trademark style.
The Search for a New Number 10
With Messi stepping down, Argentina faces the challenge of finding a worthy successor to fill the Number 10 role, a number loaded with history and expectation. Nico Paz made a strong case during the Benin game by not only impressing alongside Messi but also scoring an outstanding goal himself, earning praise for his performance.
Como Director’s High Praise for Paz
Ludi did not shy away from high praise. He described Paz as a world-class talent, highlighting both his skill and work ethic. Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Ludi said, "Nico Paz is world class, both in terms of his work ethic and his talent. He knows a player needs to deserve it every day, but he has what it takes certainly to take that role, and I wish him the brightest possible future."
A Promising Future for Argentina
Replacing someone like Messi is no small feat, yet Argentina has a rich pool of young attackers ready to lead the team forward. Paz now must keep up his form at Como, proving his consistency week after week to secure a regular starting spot for the national side.
