Manchester United's Patrick Dorgu Withdraws from Denmark Squad Due to Injury

Patrick Dorgu Withdrawn From Denmark Squad Amid Injury Concerns

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has pulled out of the Denmark national team due to injury, leaving coach Brian Riemer facing an unprecedented selection challenge. The young talent had to leave the squad following a recent UEFA Nations League match.

Denmark Faces Growing Injury Crisis

The Danish team is going through a difficult phase as injuries continue to thin their ranks during the international break. Dorgu became the latest casualty after exiting the squad Sunday night, having been hurt in Denmark's 2-0 win over Wales. This adds him to a list of key absentees including Andreas Christensen, Alexander Bah, Albert Gronbaek, and Kasper Dolberg, all ruled out since the squad was named.

"We are sending him home now; he won’t be ready for next week. Further tests will determine how long he will be sidelined," Riemer told Bold.

Dorgu’s Injury Leaves Denmark Struggling on the Wings

Dorgu’s absence hits Denmark’s tactical options hard, as his ability to cover multiple roles on the left flank was valuable. Riemer admitted the squad is not just short on players but also showing signs of fatigue, with the remaining healthy players under heavy strain.

"I’ve never experienced anything like this. Before today, seven or eight players who would usually be part of a 23-man squad were already unavailable. Some have left, others never arrived. And now Dorgu is out. It’s really frustrating," Riemer said on TV2.

Potential Replacements Being Considered

To address the shortage, Riemer confirmed plans to call up new players, mainly for the wing positions. He is reviewing several prospects, including experienced internationals and in-form players abroad, seeking those who can quickly fit into the team and handle immediate pressure.

"It could be Anders Dreyer, or Andreas Skov Olsen, who’s been performing well in Turkey. There are also some younger players in the mix," Riemer explained to Bold.

Rasmus Hojlund Shares His Disappointment

The injury news was tough for striker Rasmus Hojlund, who expressed sympathy for Dorgu and underscored the impact of losing such an important player.

"It’s a shame. He’s a major figure, also for my former club. If he’s out for a long time, it’s obviously a real setback," Hojlund told TV2.
