Tottenham Sign Omar Marmoush from Manchester City for £60m
Tottenham have doubled down on their attacking revolution, signing Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan with an obligation to buy for £60m next summer.
The 27-year-old Egypt international becomes the latest heavyweight arrival in a window that has reshaped Spurs’ squad and intent. He will reunite in north London with former City team-mate Savio, who completed a £75m move to the club on Tuesday.
For a club that has already smashed through the £300m barrier in this window, this is not a finishing touch. It is another statement.
A new focal point for De Zerbi
Marmoush arrives with unfinished business in England. Signed by City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January 2025, he produced 16 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions. Respectable numbers. Not enough to dislodge Erling Haaland.
As Haaland tightened his grip on the central striker role, Marmoush’s minutes shrank. Thirteen of his 21 league appearances last season came from the bench, his impact increasingly confined to late cameos rather than centre stage.
This season began the same way. He came on in the second half of City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, then watched from the bench as an unused substitute in their 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth.
At Spurs, that changes. Here, he is not a luxury option. He is part of the plan.
“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me,” Marmoush said. He spoke with head coach Roberto De Zerbi and was quickly sold. “I loved what he had to say and I'm sure our passion for the game will go very well together.”
That line matters. De Zerbi’s football is demanding, aggressive, and unforgiving for forwards who switch off. Marmoush is walking into a system that will ask him to run, press, combine and finish, all at pace.
De Zerbi’s vision, Spurs’ ambition
Spurs’ summer has not been about tinkering. It has been a rebuild done at speed and at scale.
The club have now spent more than £312m in this transfer window. Marmoush and Savio headline the attacking refresh, but the recruitment drive runs right through the spine of the team.

De Zerbi made no attempt to play down Marmoush’s importance.
“Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club – ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference,” he said. “He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.
“He brings pace, intelligence and a real threat in front of goal, and I believe he can take our attacking play to another level.”
That last line is the crux. Spurs already had talent in forward areas. What they want now is relentlessness.
A striker with a point to prove
Marmoush’s City stint never quite turned sour, but it stalled. He found himself trapped behind an immovable No 9, reduced to a supporting role in a side built around someone else’s goals.
At Tottenham, the dynamic flips. The obligation to buy for £60m next summer underlines how firmly the club are betting on him. This is not a short-term patch or a speculative punt. It is a core piece of the project.
He brings pace in transition, sharp movement across the front line and the flexibility to play centrally or off the flank. In De Zerbi’s structure, that versatility will be an asset, not a complication.
Spurs have loaded up on creators and runners. Now they have added another finisher with top-level experience and a clear edge to his motivation.
The stage is his. The question is simple: in a Tottenham side being rebuilt at speed and cost, can Omar Marmoush finally become the main man rather than the understudy?
