Tyson Fury Challenges Oleksandr Usyk Amid Joshua Talks

Tyson Fury has lit the fuse again. Contracted to face Anthony Joshua next, the WBC heavyweight champion is already talking as if that all‑British blockbuster is slipping away – and he has turned his sights back on Oleksandr Usyk.

The long-awaited Fury–Joshua fight is being lined up for November, with both men having signed individual contracts for the contest. On paper, it is done. In reality, one major obstacle still sits in the way: where to stage it.

Joshua wants Wembley. Fury’s camp and organisers are pushing hard for the United States. That tug of war over the venue has stalled any official announcement and, with patience thinning, Fury has gone on the offensive.

In an expletive-laden Instagram video, the “Gypsy King” accused Joshua of backing out of the fight and announced he is now looking elsewhere for a November opponent.

“This will only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk,” Fury said, making it clear who tops his alternative list.

He then aimed his words squarely at the unified champion. Fury described Usyk as Joshua’s “trainer” and “sensei”, accusing Joshua of being “weak minded” and insisting the Briton would “never fight the Gypsy King” – something, he pointed out, Usyk has already done twice.

Those two meetings between Fury and Usyk ended with the Ukrainian getting the nod on the cards in their most recent clash, a result Fury acknowledged. “You got the decisions last time, fair play to you,” he said, before immediately pushing for a trilogy.

“Good luck to you, let’s do it again. Let’s run it back in November,” Fury declared, throwing down a very public challenge. “The ball is now in your court… do you want to fight me this year, 2026, or are you calling quits? Let me know because I am now looking for a new opponent.”

So the heavyweight picture twists again. One super-fight sits on the table, tangled in venue politics. Another, just as big, has been dragged back into the spotlight by Fury’s latest outburst.

Now the question hangs over the division: will November belong to Joshua, or will Usyk be the man standing across from the Gypsy King?
