Zizou Bergs Eliminates Carlos Alcaraz at Shanghai Masters
The world number 39, Zizou Bergs, stunned seven-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz with a 7-5, 7-6 victory in China. Bergs served nine aces and won 79% of his first-serve points to claim the win. This result evens their head-to-head record at 1-1.

- Sebastian Korda: The American caused a surprise at the Miami Open by defeating Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the third round. Korda was ranked 36th at that time. Alcaraz said the loss didn’t shake his confidence and he felt improvement in his game during that tournament.

Shelton praised Alcaraz as one of the sport’s greatest champions despite his young age. Shelton advanced to his first major final after beating Frances Tiafoe but lost to world number two Alexander Zverev in the championship match.
Comments from Players
"Carlos is an outstanding player, it’s very tough to play against him and I lost to him many times," said Medvedev. "Probably I will play many more times against him and lose many more."
Alcaraz reflected after his Miami Open loss, "I think the process has been good. Besides the loss today, I think I’m still on the right path." He added, "Some things in previous tournaments I didn’t feel comfortable with, but here I started to feel better and better."
On his Monte Carlo victory, Sinner remarked, "It was a bit windy, a bit breezy. Different conditions from what the tournament has brought. Getting back to No. 1 means a lot for me. I am very happy to win a big title on this surface. I haven’t done it before and it means a lot to me."
Shelton described his US Open battle: "That was a war, an epic match, so physical. Carlos is one of the greatest champions in our sport already at 23 years old. It’s ridiculous some of the stuff he comes up with sometimes – the most enjoyable match that I’ve had in my career, for sure."
