Carlos Alcaraz Nears Roger Federer's Record After Vienna Open Triumph

Carlos Alcaraz Approaches Federer’s Legendary Milestone with Vienna Win

Carlos Alcaraz has already built a career many only dream of, and at just 23, he’s far from finished. The Spanish player has collected seven Grand Slam titles along with eight Masters 1000 victories in an astonishingly short period.

Icons like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic set records thought to be untouchable, but Alcaraz’s rapid rise is challenging their legacies. Whether those legends are concerned about their records staying intact is unclear, yet the pace at which this young star accumulates wins is remarkable.

Outside of Jannik Sinner, no one seems able to match Alcaraz when he’s in peak condition. His latest success in Vienna further cements that idea, as he equaled one of Nadal’s records and edges closer to breaking a Federer milestone.

Matching Nadal and Closing in on Federer

Alcaraz has now won eight different ATP 500 tournaments, tying him with Nadal for the most diverse titles at this level. This puts him ahead of players like Juan Martin del Potro, Andy Murray, and Boris Becker who each have seven, and well ahead of Federer and Djokovic, who stand at six apiece.

The other record he’s chasing involves consecutive match wins at ATP 500 events. Only Federer and Alcaraz hold this feat, with Federer’s streak stopping at 28 wins. Alcaraz sits just two shy of that mark, boasting 26 straight victories dating back to April 2025.

Throughout 2026, Alcaraz remained unbeaten in all ATP 500 tournaments he completed, except for the Barcelona Open where he withdrew due to injury.

Vienna Victory and Future Ambitions

Alcaraz defeated Alex de Minaur to claim his first title at the Vienna Open. Now, he sets his sights on Paris, aiming to keep his momentum, possibly secure another inaugural tournament win, and prepare for a strong showing at the ATP Finals.
