Chelsea's Pursuit of Manu Koné Continues

The window is shut, but one name refuses to leave the gossip columns: Manu Koné.

In the frantic final hours of the summer market, Chelsea made their move. The London club pushed hard to prise the French midfielder away from Roma, opening talks and testing the Italian side’s resolve. For a moment, it looked like a late blockbuster might be on the cards.

Then Gian Piero Gasperini stepped in.

The Roma manager drew a clear line. Koné, in his eyes, is not just another squad option but a cornerstone of his project. His stance was firm, his veto decisive. With Gasperini unwilling to sanction the deal, negotiations stalled and the proposed switch to the Premier League collapsed.

That should have been the end of it. It wasn’t.

Reports from France, via Sport.FR, insist Chelsea have not walked away. The club’s interest in Koné remains strong and a renewed push is already being lined up for the winter transfer window. The summer setback, it seems, has only delayed their plans rather than derailed them.

So Koné stays in Rome, at least for now. Gasperini has his midfielder, the dressing room keeps a key figure, and Roma can attack the first half of the season with one of their most valued assets still in place.

But January is not far away. And when the market opens again, Chelsea are expected to knock on Trigoria’s door once more.
