Court McGee Opens Up About Choosing UFC 332 as His Final MMA Bout
Veteran Fighter Court McGee to End Career at UFC 332
Court McGee, a seasoned welterweight in the UFC, shared his reasons for deciding that UFC 332 will be his last fight. McGee has been competing in the UFC since 2010 after winning Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter. He is scheduled to face Eric Nolan in the opening preliminary fight on Saturday’s UFC 332 event at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Why McGee Chose This Moment to Retire
McGee, who is 41 years old and from Utah, had already announced this would be his final fight, but he recently elaborated on why now feels like the right time to step away. In an interview with MMAjunkie.com, he explained:
"Yeah, it’s a retirement fight, but I knew it a couple of years ago when I signed this four-fight deal, so I knew it was coming to an end, and I felt confident with it. Before that, with the neck injury, I thought I was done and I was going to leave a fight on the table, and after fulfilling that last one, I hadn’t felt that good in years. I feel really good. I feel really healthy, but I’m 41 and I’ll be turning 42 this year. Like they say, it’s a young man’s sport, and I want to make sure I have my wits about me when I’m done. I have three kids; I’m married. I have a gym. There’s a lot of life ahead of me after 40. I feel good about my decision. I made that decision with those who are close to me, and I’m OK with it. I’ve made peace with it."
Underdog Status for McGee’s Last Fight
According to current betting odds leading up to UFC 332, McGee enters as a +190 underdog while his opponent, Eric Nolan, holds the -225 favorite status. Nolan has yet to secure a UFC win, standing at 0-2, but his youth, durability, and knockout power present a tough challenge. McGee counters with strong cardio and wrestling skills, and the crowd support could play a big role in the bout.
