Kai Havertz Injury Deepens Arsenal's Worries After Germany Hamstring Setback
Havertz Faces Scan After Suspected Hamstring Injury in Germany's Draw
Kai Havertz, Arsenal's forward, is awaiting a scan after sustaining a possible hamstring injury while playing for Germany during Jurgen Klopp's debut as the national team manager. The injury happened in a UEFA Nations League match against the Netherlands that ended 1-1.
Klopp's Debut Marred by Injury and Late Equalizer
Jurgen Klopp started his tenure managing Germany with a frustrating draw. Felix Nmecha put Germany ahead early, but a late goal from Cody Gakpo leveled the score in stoppage time. The match also saw key German attackers exit due to injuries, including Jamal Musiala who withdrew before kickoff.
Havertz left the game in the 32nd minute after a hard challenge from Quinten Timber. The incident leaves Arsenal concerned about his availability for upcoming fixtures.
Double Injury Blow for Germany
Both Havertz and Bayern Munich’s Musiala face uncertainty. Havertz needed medical attention on the field before being replaced by Younes Eboutalib. Musiala’s injury appeared during warm-ups, preventing him from starting the match.
"Both are currently undergoing an MRI. I hope we get the diagnosis this evening (Thursday). But of course, this isn't great. I hope it’s nothing serious. The lads are probably out for us. But hopefully, they’ll be back in action relatively quickly," Klopp said after the game.
Arteta Faces Growing Injury Headache at Arsenal
Mikel Arteta now has more concerns. Besides Havertz, Declan Rice and Marli Salmon have withdrawn from their England squads. Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber was left out of the Netherlands squad as a precaution after recent fitness issues. With Havertz joining the list, Arsenal’s manager will be eager for positive news from Germany’s medical staff.
Upcoming Matches and What’s Next
Klopp’s comments suggest Havertz and Musiala will miss Germany’s next three games, including home and away matches against Greece and a crucial fixture versus Serbia. For Arsenal, the focus shifts to whether Havertz can play in their Premier League game against Leeds United on October 10.
