Nike Secures Michael Olise as Face of Hypervenom Revival in Major Signing
Michael Olise has finally entered the world of boot sponsorships by signing his first-ever deal with Nike, marking a significant win for the American brand. Despite being recognized as one of football's top talents, the 24-year-old Bayern Munich and France star had previously avoided boot deals, a rarity at elite levels.
Olise’s Unique Stance on Boot Deals
Throughout his career, Olise declined lucrative offers, preferring the freedom to choose his footwear without commercial ties. A source told L’Equipe that Olise simply wasn’t interested in boot deals, valuing performance and individuality over sponsorship money.
“He clearly values performance above anything else in a world where it appears that everyone has a price,” said sports marketing expert Misha Sher. “His choice makes him stand out.”
Tim Stedman from SportFive added that Olise might prefer privacy or to avoid commercial exposure, focusing solely on his playing career.
Longtime Connection to Nike’s Hypervenom
Although Olise experimented with boots from adidas and New Balance in training, he consistently wore Nike Hypervenoms on the pitch during his spells at Crystal Palace and Bayern Munich. He even customized several pairs with unique designs matching his kits.
Now, with his rising profile after standout performances for both club and country, Olise is ready to make his partnership with Nike official.
A Strategic Win for Nike
This signing is particularly important for Nike after losing Kylian Mbappe to On, a newcomer in football boot production. Nike reportedly beat out adidas, who made a serious effort to sign Olise, including a lucrative contract offer following their CEO Bjorn Gulden’s public interest.
The Return of the Hypervenom
Crucially, Nike plans to revive the beloved Hypervenom line in 2027, nearly a decade after it was discontinued. Olise is set to be one of the flagship players representing this reboot. The original Hypervenom was famous during Neymar’s peak years and will replace the Phantom model worn by stars like Erling Haaland and Alexia Putellas.
Olise was seen training in what is believed to be a prototype of the new Hypervenoms ahead of the World Cup, signaling his upcoming role in the boot’s relaunch.
A Different Style of Partnership
Nike aims to take a fresh approach to marketing Olise, highlighting the contrast between his calm off-field persona and dynamic playing style. This strategy moves away from typical high-profile athlete campaigns, reflecting Olise’s unique character.
We may soon see Olise officially wearing signature Hypervenoms, confirming a long-standing connection and hinting at more to come.
