Paddy Pimblett Opens Up About His UFC 324 Defeat to Justin Gaethje
Paddy Pimblett Reflects on UFC 324 Loss to Justin Gaethje
Since Ilia Topuria's recent defeat by Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250, where Topuria retired on his stool after the fourth round, many fans have started viewing Paddy Pimblett's own loss to Gaethje differently. For those not familiar, Pimblett suffered his first UFC defeat against Gaethje in January 2026 at UFC 324.
The two clashed for the interim lightweight title during the main event of the promotion's debut Paramount+ card. The fight was marked by controversy, as several eye pokes and a low blow landed on Pimblett sparked debate about the referee's decision not to penalize Gaethje with a point deduction. Ultimately, two judges scored the bout 49-46 in favor of Gaethje.
Pimblett's Reaction and Future Plans
When asked if he had moved past the loss, Pimblett simply said, "Yeah, Sunday morning, it was, that’s done. Let’s move on." He last stepped into the Octagon in July 2026 but has not announced his next opponent yet. In the same interview, Pimblett shared that his comeback isn't expected soon, hoping to compete again in early 2027.
After his commanding submission victory over Saint Denis, Paddy Pimblett aims to keep building momentum when he returns. Now that his first UFC setback appears behind him, fans eagerly await to see who the Liverpudlian will face next.
