PSG Faces Major Concern as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Awaits MRI After Knee Injury Against Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain is anxious after winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a knee injury in their recent Champions League clash with Barcelona. The Georgian attacker left the pitch visibly distressed, sparking worries about a possible torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

Incident Details at Parc des Princes

The injury happened just before the 60-minute mark during a defensive effort against Barcelona’s full-back Xavi Espart. Kvaratskhelia’s right knee twisted awkwardly on the turf, causing him severe pain and forcing him to leave the match early with assistance.

Medical personnel rushed to his side immediately, and the player was unable to bear weight on his injured leg as he limped off the field.

Uncertain Outlook Amid Testing

After the game, the atmosphere shifted from celebration to concern around PSG’s camp. The club’s medical team chose not to speculate until swelling reduced and thorough scans could be performed.

• Initial reports: Prognosis remains unclear but pessimistic signs have emerged.
• L’Equipe sources: Fear grows over a ruptured ACL, which could sideline Kvaratskhelia for the entire season.

Impact on Luis Enrique’s Plans

For coach Luis Enrique, this potential loss represents a serious blow. Kvaratskhelia had been a key figure for PSG, especially in European competition, known for his work rate and attacking creativity.

His commitment even led to the injury while tracking back to support defense against top opposition. Although PSG has talented forwards ready to step up, replicating Kvaratskhelia’s unique skill set will challenge the team.

Upcoming Steps and Team Challenges

An MRI scan scheduled for Wednesday will reveal the exact damage to Kvaratskhelia’s knee, guiding decisions on treatment or surgery.

PSG must prepare for a tough schedule ahead in both Ligue 1 and Europe, adjusting tactics without their dynamic winger. If an ACL tear is confirmed, the player faces a demanding recovery period, leaving fans hoping for the best.
