WTA Top 10 Shifts After China Open: Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva Among Movers

New WTA Top 10 Emerges Following China Open in Beijing

The conclusion of the China Open in Beijing brought fresh changes to the WTA top 10 rankings. Qinwen Zheng, the home favorite and wildcard entrant, captured the title after defeating Mirra Andreeva 7-5, 6-4 in the final. Zheng's impressive performance thrilled local fans as she overcame the fourth seed Russian star in a match lasting one hour and 42 minutes.

Zheng's victory has propelled her up the rankings, with finalist Andreeva also climbing. Meanwhile, American stars Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula experienced slight drops in their rankings in the latest update.

Additional Ranking Highlights and Upcoming Events

Mirra Andreeva is not alone in reaching new career-high rankings. Eighteen-year-old American Iva Jovic has also climbed two spots to reach 11th place. As players celebrate their progress, the WTA calendar shifts toward the Wuhan Open.

However, this WTA 1000 event will miss several top players, including finalists Zheng and Andreeva who withdrew due to a right shoulder injury and scheduling changes, respectively. The tournament also lacks world number one Rybakina, defending champion Gauff, Naomi Osaka, and Amanda Anisimova. With Aryna Sabalenka as the top seed and Jessica Pegula following, the Wuhan Open stands as the season’s final WTA 1000 competition.
