Michael Carrick Unfazed by Manchester United Managerial Pressure Amid Poor Run

Michael Carrick Stays Calm Despite Man Utd’s Winless Streak

Michael Carrick says he is not shocked to still be managing Manchester United even after the team failed to win in eight consecutive Premier League matches. The club is experiencing its worst league start in four decades, but Carrick remains focused on improving results rather than worrying about his job security.

Facing the Fallout from a 3-0 Defeat

The former England midfielder’s position seemed under threat after a heavy 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth. That defeat stretched Man Utd's winless run to eight games across all competitions, marking their poorest league start in 40 years.

After talks with the club’s leadership on Monday, the board decided to keep Carrick in charge despite widespread expectations of a change. Earlier this year, Carrick had signed a new two-year contract following his success in securing Champions League qualification after stepping up as a permanent manager in the summer.

Staying Focused Amid Noise

When asked about his continued role, Carrick emphasized that his attention is on fixing the team's performance. He said, "I’m here to do my job and improve things for the team. I’m not surprised by anything. After the Bournemouth game, I was focused on the result and performance."

He also addressed the tense atmosphere at Old Trafford during that match, noting that it affected his thoughts but remained centered on what needed to be done moving forward.

No Need for Reassurance

Despite a delay in the club officially confirming his status, Carrick did not seek any reassurance from the board. He understands the pressures that come with managing a top club and said external speculation doesn’t influence him.

He stated, "I don’t need any assurances from anyone. I get the responsibilities of this job and what comes with it. I focus only on what matters and ignore outside noise."

Showing his commitment to the supporters, Carrick added, "I care about what the fans feel and think at the stadium. That’s what matters to me."

Upcoming Challenge Against Chelsea

Next up, Carrick will take his struggling squad to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a critical Premier League fixture. With an ongoing poor run, this match feels like a pivotal moment that could determine if the club's management needs to reconsider their options sooner rather than later.
