Sean Brady Reveals Reason Behind UFC Vegas 124 Withdrawal

Sean Brady Pulls Out of UFC Vegas 124 Main Event

Sean Brady, a top contender in the UFC welterweight division, has opened up about why he withdrew from his scheduled main event fight against Gabriel Bonfim at UFC Vegas 124. The bout was set for next Saturday but Brady confirmed he will no longer compete on the card.

Injury Forces Brady to Step Away

During an appearance on The BradyBagz Show, Brady explained the issue that forced him out just days before the fight. "My knee was swollen after training and by nine o’clock at night I couldn't walk," Brady said. By Wednesday morning, he realized it was more serious than previous injuries like bursitis. "I knew it was an infection... I could barely walk," he added.

Brady later identified the problem as a staph infection, which left him unable to perform at full strength. Given his condition, he made the difficult decision to pull out of the fight, leaving Bonfim without an opponent on short notice.

Apologies to Gabriel Bonfim

Brady expressed sympathy for Gabriel Bonfim, understanding the disappointment his withdrawal caused. "I feel for Bonfim too. It sucks, man. I've been there when fights get canceled two weeks out and you’re left uncertain about your next opponent," Brady said. He acknowledged Bonfim’s hard work preparing for the event and apologized for the disruption.

"I put in a ten-week training camp for this fight," Brady shared, highlighting the effort both fighters had invested.

Next Steps for Sean Brady

Before returning to the Octagon, Brady needs to recover fully from his infection. There’s no immediate word on when he might be rescheduled, but health will come first before the UFC sets a new date.
